PK Subban was at the Habs practice today playing alongside Francis Bouillon. This is a good sign that he will be playing Saturday.
Coach Michel Therrien has been unwilling to say when the youngster will get his first shot to play this season. Although during a press conference he admitted that "sooner or later PK will have to play".
Thomas Kaberle who had been paired with Francis Bouillon in recent games was practicing in a pairing with Yannick Weber, who has been a regular scratch for the Canadiens so far this season. He only suited up for one out of six games this season.
Subban has been a fan favorite in Montreal the past couple seasons. However, Michel Therrien is trying to rein in Subban's boasting. He has disapproved of PK and Price's Triple-low five, a fan favorite move where Carey Price and PK Subban would slap each other's hand three times after a victory. Teams and players in minor hockey have started doing the routine, but Therrien doesn't want to see any more of it. It has to be about the team he believes.
Another player likely to return to the lineup shortly is Max Pacioretty. He had a surprise appendectomy last Saturday and it was expected that he would be out for three to four weeks. However, Max is a gladiator and doctors said that it was okay for him to return to play at his own pace. If the pain was too much, he should take it easy doctors said. However, Max was out at practice today and looked great. He was skating well, and seemed to have normal flexibility in his upper body. Getting Pacioretty back in the lineup could be a major boost for the Habs. He scored 33 goals for the team last season.
The Habs play twice this weekend. First they faceoff against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and then they play Ottawa again Sunday. Both games are at 2 PM.
Stay tuned this weekend for more hockey updates!
Best,
Patrick
